League of Ireland Round-Up: Derry City moved to the top of the table with a hard fought 1-0 away win against St Patrick's Athletic, who had been going for five straight wins at the start of their Premier Division campaign.
Stephen Kenny's men travelled to Dublin knowing they would face
difficult opposition, given
St Pat's topped the table on maximum points.
However, Owen Morrison's second half strike proved decisive for the Candystripes as the home side's unbeaten run came to an end and Derry moved to the top of the league.
Morrison's goal was well executed as he chipped Brendan Clarke from the right side after confusion in the St Pat's defence. In truth Clarke was hard done by as he put in an otherwise error free performance.
Elsewhere Shamrock Rovers failed to capitalise on St Pat's defeat as they too fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Bohemians, who are now level with St Pat's on 12 points, one behind Derry.
Cork City were 1-0 winners over UCD at Turner's Cross, while Bray Wanderers were also 1-0 winners at home to Finn Harps.
