Sligo Rovers 2 Cork City 2:Defending champions Cork City needed an 89th-minute goal from substitute Paul Deasy to earn a point in their Setanta Sports Cup Group One tie at the Showgrounds tonight.

Deasy fired home from Gareth Cambridge’s cross to keep up the Leesiders unbeaten start to their campaign.

Latvian striker Guntars Silagailis had put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute, only for competition newcomers Sligo to level through Richie Ryan a minute before the break

Dean Marshall struck just before the hour mark to give the home side the lead and they looked well set to make a winning debut before Deasy’s dramatic late intervention.
