League leaders Bohemians left it late but managed to extend their lead at the top of the eircom League standings with a 1-0 win over Cork City.

A Glenn Crowe strike 13 minutes from time was enough to secure all three points at Turner's Cross and with St Patrick's Athletic not in action until Sunday Bohemians are now a commanding seven points clear.

The visitors were under the cosh in the opening period and had goalkeeper Brian Murphy to thank for heading into the break on level terms.

Pat Fenlon's began to show the class that has elevated them to the top of the table after the break and should have taken the lead on the hour mark when Killian Brennan headed over from close range.

And Crowe provided the winning goal in the 77th minute, getting on the end of Anto Murphy's free-kick to all but end Cork's slim title aspirations.
