Soccer FAI Cup draw Skerries draw the champions

Having revelled in the glory of their second round defeat of Monaghan United, Skerries Town's FAI Cup giant-killing aspirations moved up a division as they were drawn away to National League champions

Bohemians in the third round of the Carlsberg sponsored blue riband event.

"It's a fantastic draw, we couldn't have asked for better," was the reaction of a jubilant Alan Sweeney, player/manager of the Leinster Senior League Division One side from north County Dublin.

"The last time we played at Dalymount we won the Polikoff Cup in 1995, so a few of the current players were there before.

"We're only four matches away from Europe. Celtic in the UEFA Cup next season would be nice," he laughed

Cherry Orchard, the other non-league survivors, will be disappointed with their draw away to First Division Kildare County.

Having needed a replay to put out Cobh Ramblers, holders Derry City must again travel down a division to meet Galway United.

Another First Division versus Premier tie throws up perhaps the most intriguing clash of the round, with Sligo Rovers' manager Don O'Riordan "absolutely delighted" with drawing Shelbourne at home.

Drogheda United host UCD in the only all-Premier Division tie, while Waterford United won't relish a trip to Bray Wanderers in what looks the potential upset of the round.

In-form Longford Town will be confident of being in the quarter-final draw having been paired at home to Limerick FC, while in an interesting all-capital tie, Dublin City manager John Gill is savouring his First Division leader's trip to St Patrick's Athletic.
