SLIGO ROVERS have confirmed their intention to enter the InterToto Cup in mid summer, having derived some encouragement from two attractive home draws against Dutch side Heerenveen (beaten in last year's semi finals by eventual UEFA Cup finalists Bordeaux) and as yet unconfirmed French qualifiers.
Nor are the trips to Norway and Greece deemed to be as difficult as might have been the case, and with Steve Cotterill committed to the club for another year the Sligo manager is currently seeking to strengthen the squad while home on "holidays" in England.
It is rumoured that the Cork central defender cum midfielder Dave Hill may be an imminent addition to Sligo.
However, a club statement added the rider that far from being a financial windfall, the club will need the firm support of local and nationwide businesses and fans to break even on the venture.
Meanwhile, the a.g.m. of the National League will take place at the Mont Clare Hotel, Merrion Square, on Saturday from 19.30 a.m. The agenda includes ratification of the merger with the FAI and the format for next season's league programme.
