Sligo - 1-12, Wexford - 1-7
Sligo ended Wexford's unbeaten league run when they comfortably saw off the home side's challenge in Gorey yesterday.
The Westerners, in desperate need of points, to maintain their promotion prospects, got off to the ideal start with a seventh minute Paul Taylor goal from a penalty.
Midway through the opening half, Wexford responded with a John Hegarty goal; but they still trailed 15 to 1-2.
Sligo restored their advantage with four unanswered points through Gerry McGowan (2) Eamonn Cawley and Sean Davey to build a seven-point interval lead.
Although Wexford introduced their two experienced attackers Scott Doran and Jason Lawlor at the interval, it was still Sligo who held the initiative with early points from McGowan and Sean Davey, to move into a nine-point lead.
