The chances of the Noel Meadetrained Sunshine Street having a go in Saturday week's Esat Digifone Champion Stakes at Leopardstown increased with the news that last year's runner-up, Alborada, will miss the race.

Sunshine Street is set to take his chance in the World Series contest if the field cuts up, and Mark Prescott has confirmed that Alborada, for one, will not take part.

Alborada's only run this season was a fifth in the Nassau Stakes, and Prescott said yesterday: "There have been a lot of hiccups, and a corn means that Alborada will have to miss Leopardstown."

This afternoon, Kilbeggan stages its last fixture of the year with a £10,000 jackpot guarantee to encourage the large crowds yet again.

The most valuable event on the card is the £10,000 Max Premium Handicap Chase, and the Willie Mullins-trained Jimmy The Lark is selected to win first time of asking in handicap company.

The seven-year-old was a smooth winner of a Beginners Chase over the course and distance a couple of weeks ago, beating the luckless Nicky The Kip by an eased down eight lengths.

Off a light weight, Jimmy The Lark will be a difficult opponent for some of the more experienced runners to peg back, although the presence of Graham Bradley on Triptodicks is significant, and the other course winner, Ratoath Girl, also lurks at the bottom of the ratings.

The aforementioned Nicky The Kip can finally get off the mark in the following Beginners Chase, while the prolific Beacon Lane is the selection in the handicap hurdle.

The opener has only four runners and looks an ideal opportunity for the classy Quintus to follow up a very easy success at Tramore, while in the following maiden hurdle Shane McCann can get Voodoo Lily off the mark.
