Greg Rusedski's cold has caused him to lose a little hearing and yesterday in the second round of the Eurocard Open in Stuttgart it almost led to the loss of a match that at one stage he had dominated.
He thought he had heard a let call when he opened the serving in the tie-break of the second set against Jason Stoltenberg, but in fact there had been a call of "fault". He promptly delivered what he believed was another first serve, missed it, and saw the resultant double fault cost him a mini-break and eventually the set.
He spent much of the rest of the match fretting and almost went a break down in the final set. But he survived to win, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.
Tim Henman saw his hopes of qualifying for the ATP World Championship finals in Hanover become stronger with a second-round defeat of the Eurocard titleholder Petr Korda to Thomas Johansson.
