AN outstanding performance by outhalf Gavin Duffy propelled Cistercian, Roscrea, past Presentation, Bray, in this Leinster Schools' Junior Cup tie at Naas yesterday.
Roscrea played against a very strong breeze for the first half and Duffy defied the bad weather conditions with a try after a 50 metre run.
Presentation, Bray then rallied back and took the lead with a Robert Connolly try, converted by Brian Murphy in the 11th minute.
Fifteen minutes later, Eamon McQuinn crossed the Bray line and Roscrea led 15-7 at half time thanks to an Anthony Curley try.
Bray's challenge dissipated against the wind in the second half and Redmond Barry consolidated Roscrea's superiority with another try.
Andrew Galvin got the try of the afternoon at the end of a cross field move and Duffy converted. The last score of the game fell to Sean McGrath.
