McGrath Cup: An impressive Tipperary pulled off something of an upset in Clonmel yesterday when they defeated the All-Ireland champions in this McGrath Cup quarter-final.

Declan Browne scored the only goal of the game in the opening minute before kicking the first of his five points in the third minute and then setting up Damien O'Brien for a point.

Kerry responded with a Ronan O'Connor point in the 13th minute and when Marc Ó Sé hit the target it was 1-2 to 0-2.

Tipperary swept into a commanding lead with points from Browne, Pa Morrissey, Eamonn Hanrahan and John Shanahan to lead by 1-6 to 0-2 on 27 minutes.

Kerry rallied in the second half with Declan Quill leading the way with three points and Aidan O'Mahony landing a fourth.

Points from Browne and Paul Cahill steadied Tipperary before Paddy Kelly scored Kerry's seventh point in the 51st minute and a minute later Brendan Guiney was sin-binned.
