THE English trained Glide Path has shown little in two outings this season but Darryll Holland's mount is a tough seven year old with several handicap successes behind him and a Group Three win in Sweden. A firm ground specialist, John Hill's charge will be well suited to the distance of today's Ulster Harp Derby at Down Royal.
Successful with Munif in last year's corresponding race Dermot Weld despatches Pro Trader, the winner of a premier handicap over nine furlongs at Gowran Park last time out. John Oxx saddles Sheraka and Asmara and of the two, I prefer Sheraka, who has been competing in good company and last time out finished fifth in the Group Two Gallinule Stakes one place behind His Excellency who subsequently ran so well in the Irish Derby. Previously unplaced in the Irish 2,000 Guineas Sheraka opened his winning account of the season with success in the Guineas trial at Leopardstown. Song Of The Sword should run well and Jim Bolger has prospects with Diamond Display, who was not beaten too far by Lacinia at the Curragh last time out and previously won a 14 furlongs handicap at Gowran Park.
Ian Ferguson has got great mileage out of his six year old Huncheon Chance, who should give the weight in the Eastwood Bookmakers Handicap. If Swallows Nest is anywhere near his best John Nicholson's consistent chaser would take beating in the Northern Ireland Tourist Board Handicap Chase. It is a full year since he last won at Killarney. The evergreen Bold Flyer has won twice this season and is well capable of winning again but Swallows Nest is chosen.
