SATURDAY'S spectacular Tote Gold Trophy winner Make A Stand has since proved a popular choice with punters for the Smurfit Champion Hurdle, with both Ladbrokes and William Hill reporting significant support for Martin Pipe's six year old.

Ladbrokes have cut the gelding to 8 to 1 from 10 to 1 for Cheltenham.

"Make A Stand is a real springer in the Champion Hurdle market after Saturday's win and if the ground were to come up fast at Cheltenham he would take very high order in the betting indeed," said spokesman Ian Wassell.

William Hill's David Hood confirmed the interest shown in Make A Stand, trimming him into 8 to 1 from 12 to 1.
