Top designer of show-jumping courses Paul Duffy dies

Designer played key part in 1982 World Championships and 1983 Sydney Royal Show

The death has taken place of one of the leading show-jumping designers in the world.

Galway native Paul Duffy (78), died at St Brendan’s Nursing Unit in Loughrea Co Galway.

Mr Duffy, who was from Knocknacarra in Galway, was heavily involved in the design of show jumping courses throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, including that of the 1982 World Championships and the Sydney Royal Show the following year.

He was the founder of Duffy Equestrian Centre in Loughgeorge, Co Galway. He is survived by his wife Brid, sons Paul, Brendan and Mark and daughter Audrey.
