Amateur Edgar Byrne rode his first winner since going to England in September when teaming up with North End Lady in the North Foreland Selling Hurdle at Folkestone yesterday. Byrne, having his first ride for trainer Linda Jewell, nosed his mount into the lead rounding the home turn and North End Lady went clear before the final flight to beat Sweet Little Briar by six lengths.

The 22-year-old, who hails from Kilkenny, rode six winners when with Dermot Weld, including a bumper on Saturday's Ladbroke winner, Graphic Equaliser, for the Frank Lacy stable. He is now attached to Kim Bailey's Lambourn yard.

North End Lady, who was backed from 16 to 1 to 10 to 1, did not attract a bid at the subsequent auction.
