A superbly worked goal by Pat O'Brien offered Bray Wanderers hope going into the New Year as they moved off the bottom of the table with Tuesday afternoon's defeat of fellow strugglers Home Farm/Everton in a match played in atrocious conditions at the Carlisle Grounds.

In a dramatic finish to the match, Home Farm had right back, Owen Henry, sent off for a professional foul on Justin Dutton in the final minute; Bray's Ritchie Parsons missed the proverbial sitter seconds later and then Home Farm might have equalised seconds after that, but for a fine save by John Walsh from Gavin Doyle.

The goal that won the game came in the 34th minute following a sweeping move started by Robbie Coyle on the half way line.

He played the ball inside to Parsons who fed Kieran O'Brien out wide on the left. O'Brien then crossed low to the back post where his inrushing namesake, Pat, arrived to drive the ball into the net for a truly wonderful goal.
