Uefa Cup Group stage: Nurnberg v Everton, Frankenstadion, 8.05David Moyes has appealed to ticketless Everton supporters not to jeopardise the club's European position when they descend on the Frankenstadion here tonight.
Fewer than half of Everton's estimated travelling support in Germany have an official ticket for their second Uefa Cup group game, in which victory would maintain a place at the Group A summit, and approximately 1,500 were caught out when home tickets purchased directly from the Bundesliga club were cancelled on Uefa advice.
European football's governing body has placed a "high-risk" security classification on the fixture because of the number of ticketless fans in Nurnberg and Moyes has urged restraint to avert the possibility of a Uefa punishment for stepping out of line.
"I am very disappointed for those who bought tickets in good faith, paid for their flights and hotels and then found they couldn't go to the game," said the Everton manager. "But we are only just back in Europe and we don't want anything to put a dampener on it in any way."
Everton arrived without striker James Vaughan, who has a thigh injury, and although Alan Stubbs and Leighton Baines travelled neither is expected to play because of a hamstring and knee injury respectively. Another absentee is Andrew Johnson, who is recovering from ankle surgery.
