SOCCER Champions League News: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has warned Barcelona of his determination to reach the Champions League final again - as "I have to defend what is mine".

Mourinho won the European crown with Porto last season and is looking to keep hold of the title with his new club.

He must first overcome another of his former clubs, Spanish giants Barcelona, in their two-legged last-16 clash, starting with next week's trip to the Nou Camp.

Mourinho was at the Nou Camp between 1996 and 2000, firstly as an assistant to Bobby Robson and then Louis van Gaal,

But the man who declared himself to be "special" when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, insisted: "I have to defend what is mine and the Champions League is mine at the moment.

"I'm the last manager to have won it so it's my competition. I have to fight for Chelsea and for myself, to defend my cup until the last moment.

"Maybe it's because I won the Champions League that I had a big turn in my life and I could come to a big football country like England.

Mourinho, 42, added: "I'm still very young as a manager. I think that I have 15 more years to work in football so I hope to have the taste again.

"It's always very difficult to win the Champions League. A lot of fantastic managers in the world couldn't win a single one.

"You must have good players and luck at the right moment. It's always a fantastic achievement. What we did at Porto is history, but football is about the future and we must try to do it again."

Striker Didier Drogba, meanwhile, is unlikely to be fit for the trip to the Nou Camp, Mourinho confirmed.

"Drogba is definitely out for (FA Cup tie against Newcastle) Sunday and there is little chance for Wednesday," Mourinho said.

The Ivory coast striker has a thigh injury and joins on the sidelines inspirational Dutch winger Arjen Robben who has broken two bones in his foot.

Mourinho said the two absences meant Chelsea were a different team from the fast counter-attacking side that raced to qualification for the Champions League knockout phase with two games to spare.

"The team will be playing differently. We have to adapt." Icelandic striker Eidur Gudjohnsen is likely to feature in place of Drogba.

As for the Spanish side, Mourinho said it was impossible to say which of their two prolific forwards Samuel Eto'o or Ronaldinho, posed the greatest danger to Chelsea's solid back four, on a run of 10 Premier League clean sheets.

"They are different dangers. With Eto'o if you lose a second of concentration with his movement you lose the space and they take it. Ronaldinho is pure talent." he said. "They have super-quality in that area"

He added, however, that it would be no disgrace to lose in a round including eight heavyweight teams with Real Madrid also playing Juventus, Manchester United against AC Milan and Arsenal taking on Bayern Munich.

The return leg takes place at Stamford Bridge on March 8th.
