All-Ireland MFC quarter-finals/Donegal 0-17 Offaly 1-13: A point by substitute Declan McGarvey deep into injury time at the end of extra-time gave Donegal victory in this at-times mistake-riddled minor championship quarter-final in Clones on Saturday.

In difficult weather the game saw Donegal get off to much the better start and they led by four points to nil after 12 minutes, Dualtach Molloy (three) and Martin McElhinney the scorers.

Offaly took time to settle but grew in stature in the second quarter as Ken Casey caused problems for Donegal's defence.

He posted three points and was fouled in the 27th minute for a penalty, which was netted by William Mulhall to put Offaly in front for the first time and help them to a half-time lead of 1-6 to 0-6.

Donegal gradually got back on terms and by the 12th minute of the second half had retaken the lead, only to be again hauled back to parity. They led again, by two points, entering the final five minutes but Offaly's Ken Casey and Mulhall pointed to force extra time with the score at Donegal 0-13, Offaly 1-10.

As errors abounded, the sides were level for much of the second period and a draw looked the most likely result until substitute McGarvey popped up with the winner in injury time.
