Division Two A/Roscommon 0-15 Clare 0-8: John Maughan's return to Cusack Park yielded two valuable league points when Roscommon defeated Clare by a merited seven points yesterday.

Mayoman Maughan, who successfully lead Clare to provincial honours in 1992, came to Ennis seeking a second win out of three for his new charges and must have been happy with the display and result.

Clare promised a lot early on and lead by four points to two by the 11th minute against a strong wind, but from then until the end Roscommon took clear control with 11 points of their total being scored by Ger Heneghan (six, five from frees) and Derek Connellan (five).
