The promoting of the 2001 Heineken Kinsale Sevens which takes place from May 4th to 6th next year has already begun. Plans are well advanced to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Kinsale with a Mardi Gras experience at next year's Sevens.

Heineken has increased the prize fund to £15,000 and entries have already been confirmed from Fiji, Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland and Germany: given the historical significance it is also envisaged that a team from Spain will take part. The weekend will include rugby, star guests, comedy acts and the gourmet delights of Kinsale itself. The format includes senior and junior men and women's competitions.
