The Island golf club brought their tally to three wins from four finals when they took the Uden Cup on Sunday with a 71/2-61/2 win over Deer Park in the second leg of the final at The Island. In the previous weeks, their juniors had mixed fortunes when they won the Fred Daly (Leinster Section) but lost out in the final of the junior foursomes to Carlow, while the McDonnell Cup team claimed the spoils when beating the K Club in the final.

The Island had taken a 7-0 lead from the first leg of the McDonnell Cup when Harry Cauldwell, in partnership with Finbarr Gaffney, holed from eight feet on the last in The Island. Cauldwell was also involved in gaining the necessary point at the K Club when he hit his tee-shot to eight feet at the 17th for the winning par.
