THE Republic of Ireland stay third in World Cup qualifying group eight after Iceland and Lithuania played out a scoreless draw in Reykjavik last night.
However, Lithuania, who are also chasing second place in the group, join Ireland on 10 points, but stay fourth because of their inferior goal difference. Macedonia, courtesy of a 1-0 win over Iceland last Saturday are second on 13 points.
Ireland play Lithuania in Dublin on August 20th.
