The beautiful weather and the superb condition of the Murvagh course in Donegal contributed to a memorable men's Inter-Bank tournament where AIB retained their title with a 6-1 final victory over Irish Life and Permanent.

Kieran O'Byrne got the champions off to a good start with victory in the top singles, but it was the performance of Kieran Canty which really swung matters in their favour. He was four down to Val Smyth after six, but staged a terrific fight back to win on the 18th. Royal Tara member Declan Kelleher was AIB's top man for the week with an unbeaten record, but he was pipped by George Ormsby (IL&P) for the golfer of the week title. Ormsby also went through the week unbeaten and was level after 19 against Mark Gannon when their match in the final was called in.
