CLASS NOTE, trained by Dermot Weld and partnered by Mick Kinane, made virtually all to break her maiden tag in the Old Rectory Maiden at Navan last evening.

Sent off the 6 to 4 second favourite, the Royal Academy filly came home the comfortable three-length winner from the well-supported John Oxx-trained Katiysa, who failed to quicken under John Murtagh after coming under pressure two furlongs from home.

Afterwards Weld reported that new recruit Identify, a 16 to 1 chance, for Friday's Vodafone Oaks, is in good form for the English Fillies Classic at Epsom. He also revealed that Hamad, who quickened nicely to land a handicap at Leopardstown on Monday, will be aimed for a handicap at Royal Ascot later this month.

Kildare trainer Jimmy Coogan nominated the five-furlong Group 3 Curragh Stakes on Oaks Day next month for Classical Risk after the daughter of Fairy King recorded a three-quarter length success in the opening Breeders Supporting Navan Race.

Partnered by the trainer's younger brother, George (23), who was recording his seventh success under rules, the 11 to 2 chance forged to the front inside the final 50 yards to beat the Eddie Lynam-trained newcomer, Hartstown House.

Paul Carberry, who partnered winners at Sligo on Sunday before scoring at Tralee on Monday, continued his winning strike rate when winning the Meath Farm Machinery Hurdle with a confident ride on the Michael Cunningham-trained Bamapour.

Meanwhile, champion rider, Charlie Swan will be out of action for three weeks after undergoing an operation to remove a plate in his right arm at Navan Hospital yesterday.
