How They Stand

Division 1A

Division 1A

Yesterday's results have left a considerable squeeze for play-off places in this section. While Dublin continue to cruise, All-Ireland champions Galway suffered their second league loss against Cork, who now seem a safe bet for the play-offs. Armagh have strengthened their case with a win over Offaly and Tyrone's dismal winter has been ended by a noteworthy victory over Donegal.

Dublin travel to Ballybofey in a fortnight's time, intent on effectively finishing Donegal's fading challenge in this year's league while Galway ought to have enough to scalp Tyrone at home. With Offaly favoured to pick up two points against Leitrim, the key match of the next round would appear to be Cork at home to Armagh.

Yesterday's Results: Armagh 1-9, Offaly 1-6; Cork 1-9, Galway 0-9; Tyrone 0-12, Donegal 0-11; Dublin 1-19, Leitrim 0-6.

Division 1B

Having drawn against Monaghan yesterday, Derry will have to fight hard to take points from Meath in the choice fixture from this section in a fortnight's time. Kildare face a potentially tricky assignment against Clare while Down must be fancied to continue their recent drive for the playoffs when they take on Laois. Again, yesterday's results have tightened the group up but Kildare and Meath are still in control, with the upcoming meeting of Mayo and Monaghan critical to both teams.

Yesterday's Results: Kildare 0-10, Laois 0-9; Down 0-6, Meath 0-6; Derry 1-9, Monaghan 1-9; Mayo 0-7, Clare 0-7.

Division 2A

Kerry's lull weekend leaves them drifting towards mid-table of this odd section. Still, the bigger guns would appear to be getting it together, with Roscommon and Westmeath winning handsomely. The next round should see matters begin to settle: Kerry to beat Limerick, Roscommon should overcome Antrim and Wicklow have the momentum to keep lit their trail-blazing run by defeating Westmeath.

Yesterday's Results: Limerick 2-12, Kilkenny 0-2; Westmeath 2-14, London 0-3; Wicklow 1-11, Antrim 0-9; Roscommon 2-13 Louth 0-6.

Division 2B

The teams in this group seem determined to shirk any sort of definable pattern, with table toppers Wexford and Fermanagh both falling yesterday. Sligo are beginning to show their credentials and can ease towards the play-offs by beating Waterford in the next round while Cavan, the other nominal big-hitters in this section, will need to improve if they are to dent Carlow's high-flying form. Munster finalists Tipperary eased themselves out of the trash heap by beating Waterford yesterday but face a tight struggle in the next round when they face Longford.

Yesterday's Results: Longford 2-10, Cavan 1-11; Carlow 211, Fermanagh 0-10; Sligo 1-12, Wexford 1-7; Tipperary 4-10, Waterford 1-7.

Leinster Under-21 FC replay - Wicklow 0-13, Offaly 1-8.
