Hollywood Law looks best

Hollywood Law gets the vote in the Grade Two Slaney Novice Hurdle, centrepiece of the card at Naas tomorrow.

Hollywood Law gets the vote in the Grade Two Slaney Novice Hurdle, centrepiece of the card at Naas tomorrow.

Hollywood Law holds Kazal on their third and fourth place finishings behind Aran Concerto and Footy Facts in the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle at Navan.

They clashed off level weights then, and Hollywood Law was a length and a half superior, so he must be the selection now given that he receives 3lb.

Since then Kazal has shown himself to be a top class prospect in the making when winning the Grade Three Ladbrokes.com Dorans Pride Novice Hurdle at Limerick.

Eoin Griffin said after that: "Jumping is Kazal's strong point, he stays all day and will make a really nice chaser. He may have two more runs over hurdles this season and then go chasing next term."

Casey Jones looks a clear third best.

Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh (responsible for Hollywood Law), are also the men to follow in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Novice Chase with Snowy Morning.

Vintage Treasure should make a strong challenge but Snowy Morning, a winner of a couple of point-to-points, a bumper, a maiden hurdle, and his first chase three weeks back, will be hard to beat.

Following an inspection yesterday morning, the chase track at Cork was found to be unfit for racing and the two chases planned for today's meeting have been abandoned. The six-year-old plus maiden hurdle has now been divided to form a six-race card.

The McCarthy Insurance Group Hurdle is the feature event.

Franklins Trail and Wins Now seem set to dominate the betting here and justifiably so.

The latter was finding no extra in fourth when falling at the last in that excellent maiden hurdle won by De Valira at Fairyhouse last month. Franklins Trail was left to take that placing then.

Since then Wins Now impressively got off the mark over flights at Navan. Meanwhile, his big rival got up near the finish to triumph at Gowran.

Wins Now had an official rating of 107 going into that Saturday before Christmas contest. He has now been reassessed as a 119 and that sways the argument in his favour here.

Willie Mullins and Davy Condon (they combine with Franklins Trail) could be the men to follow in either divide of the maiden hurdle.

Cobham and Scotsirish both have favourites chances.

The other leg of the Jackpot is the bumper. Ophorique is difficult to oppose here after his stylish 12-length runaway at Leopardstown at Christmas.

Model Athlete is probably worth chancing on his hurdling bow in the opener.

Mick Winters' and Michael O'Connor's Derrygowna Court looks the pick in the mares hurdle.
