Hartley loses out in big reshuffle

Waterford have made sweeping changes following their defeat by Kilkenny last Sunday airc Ui Rinn to meet Cork for the National Hurling League game against Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday.

Four players have been dropped including Fergal Hartley who was regarded as one of Waterford's better players against Kilkenny - he held his opposite number John Hoyne scoreless and Hoyne was eventually withdrawn.

Also dropped are Michael Molumphy, Barry Browne and Billy O'Sullivan. Into the side come Brian Greene, who missed the Kilkenny game because of flu, Sean Daly, who retains his place

having been introduced as a second-half substitute in that game, Tom Fives, recently recalled to the panel, and Stephen Cunningham, who is making his league debut.

The placing of All Star midfielder Tony Browne at centre back is a surprise, as he has excelled at midfield in both last year's championship campaign and in the current league. Greene, a recognised half back, and Fives form a new midfield pairing. Daly is named at full forward.

Out of action because of suspension is Paul Flynn who was sent off in the match against Wexford. He is expected to appear before the GAC in Croke Park tonight. In football, Galway have named nine of the team which lined out in the All-Ireland final for their league match against Offaly in Ballinasloe on Sunday. They are Gary Fahy, Ray Silke, Sean Og de Paor, Sean O Domhnaill, Jarlath Fallon, Michael Donnellan and the entire full forward line of Derek Savage, Padraig Joyce and Niall Finnegan.
