FR GODFREY CUP FINAL St Gerard's 14 Cistercian, Roscrea 7:TWO TRIES near the end of the first half proved decisive as St Gerard's, Bray, triumphed at Templeville Road yesterday.

The game was overshadowed somewhat by the injury to the St Gerard’s secondrow Jack Ryan and the game was delayed as emergency staff from the Dublin Fire Brigade and ambulance crew attended to him.

Roscrea were unable to convert early pressure into scores, with Fionn Higgins pulling a penalty wide on 25 minutes before the injury to Ryan. St Gerard’s went in front on the half hour when Niall Byrne crossed for a try to the left of the posts.A few moments later Mark Prendergast sent Alex Mooney in for a try in the right corner, Whittle converted to leave it 14-0 at the break.

Roscrea captain Mark Kelly touched down with five minutes remaining. Tim Foley converted but St Gerard’s held on.
