GARRYOWEN steam-rolled past Galway Corinthians when they scored 10 tries to win 65-8 in the semi-finals of the All-Ireland under-20 championship at Castle Avenue yesterday.

Corinthains could only muster one try by second row Eoin Waldron and a penalty by winger Padraic McDonagh in the second half.

Garryowen scored four tries in the first half including a penalty try. Outhalf Ian Costelloe converted three and added a dropped goal to leave the Limerick side 29-0 up at the break.

In the second half it was one way traffic as Garryowen notched up another six tries. The best of these came from flanker Peter Bracken, winger Keith Daly and replacement number eight Cara Coughlan. This put the seal on a very impressive win and secured Garryowen's place in today's final.

In the other semi-final Blackrock College beat Malone 36-12.

They scored five tries to Malone's two and outclassed the opposition in all areas of play. Blackrock fullback Emmet Farrell notched up a try as well as four conversions and a penalty in a very impressive all round display.

The Dublin side led 14-5 at the break with tries by centre Russell Rochford and scrum half Niall O'Toole, Farrell added the conversions. Meanwhile, Malone scrum half Chris Shields, went over for a try which full back Goeff Parke failed to convert.

After the break, Blackrock went on the rampage with tries by winger Rory Guinan, replacement prop Mark Fearon and Emmet Farrell. Farrell added two more conversions and a penalty to bring his personal tally to 16 points and guaranteeing Blackrock their place in the final.
