Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Mr Mulligan will be one of the stars on show at Wincanton's celebrity race day today. Race goers will also see the likes of John Francome and Peter Scudamore in action and Lester Piggott riding Desert Orchid.
But Mr Mulligan will not have matters all his own way in the Desert Orchid South Western Pattern Chase, with Terao and the useful Gales Cavalier in the line up.
And it could pay to side with the last-named to spring a surprise in this Grade Two event over two miles and five furlongs.
Without a win over fences last season, David Gandolfo's nine-year-old ran well on a number of occasions including when runner up to Coulton in this race and when failing by 18 lengths to concede 9lb to Dublin Flyer - trying the impossible - at Huntingdon in November.
Gales Cavalier is more suited to today's trip than Mr Mulligan - who, with the season's big chases in mind, may just be in need of the run here - and is napped to register his first success for 18 months.
Fast-ground specialist Galatasori Jane can complete a four-timer in the Up And Coming Stayers Novices' Chase earlier on the card. She barely put a foot wrong last time when completing her hat-trick with the minimum of fuss.
