ULSTER FLANKER Willie Faloon is the latest player to sign for Connacht for next season.

ULSTER FLANKER Willie Faloon is the latest player to sign for Connacht for next season.

The 25-year-old openside flanker has penned a two-year deal with the province, having spent three years with Ulster.

Connacht coach Eric Elwood says he is delighted to have recruited the Ballynahinch clubman, having worked with him on the Ireland A side.

“I have known Willie on the Ireland A side and was very impressed with him last year. I believe he is a player who punches above his weight. Like Johnny O’Connor, he is a player who gets around the park, and he can also carry ball.

“As an Irish eligible player, I also believe Willie will flourish in our environment.”

Faloon, who led his school Royal School Armagh to Ulster Schools Cup victory in 2004, made his professional debut for Ulster in 2009.

He will join a Connacht side that already boasts former Ulster teammates TJ Anderson, Niall O’Connor and Mark McCrea, and is expected to give a lift to an ageing backrow where both Johnny O’Connor and Ray Ofisa are nearing the end of their professional careers.

Faloon is the third new player Elwood has recruited for next season, following the signings of prop Nathan White from Leinster and former Scottish international outhalf Dan Parks.
