Tommy Evans of Banbridge was first again in his own club's Noel Teggart memorial promotion over a Banbridge circuit yesterday and stretches his lead in the Callcard Classic League.
At the end of seven laps of 12 1/2 miles Evans beat Jamie Hunter (Ards) by three seconds with another Banbridge man John Grant third ahead of Raymond Clarke (Premier).
Evans was involved in most of the action at the front and eventually he went ahead in what proved the decisive breakaway group with Hunter, David McCann and Conor Henry.
A chasing group of 18 went in pursuit but on the last lap Evans and Hunter left their companions. McCann and Henry were swallowed up by the chasers and Evans went on to win by three seconds from Hunter with Grant and Clarke at a minute and 30 seconds.
The 15 points for winning brings Evans's total in the league to 46 with Kieran MacMahon closest to him on 21.
