Eight oppose Lady Carla

EPSOM OAKS winner Lady Carla will face a maximum of eight rivals in Sunday's Irish equivalent at the Curragh

EPSOM OAKS winner Lady Carla will face a maximum of eight rivals in Sunday's Irish equivalent at the Curragh. Eight of the original entrants stood their ground at yesterday's forfeit stage for the Kildangan Stud-sponsored event, including fellow British challengers Camporese and Story Line.

Sole supplementary entry by the noon deadline was the Aga Khan's recent French Group Two winner Shamadara, trained by Alain de Royer Dupre. Sil Sila and Tulipa had been mentioned as possible supplementaries but connections of both elected not to fork out the £25,000 fee.

Lady Carla scored by nine lengths at Epsom for Henry Cecil and is likely to start at short odds to complete a double last achieved by User Friendly in 1992.

Camporese, trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, bids to turn the tables, having finished around 10 lengths fourth in the Oaks on just her second appearance. Barry Hills has left in Story Line who finished only seventh in the Italian Oaks last time out.
