Dundalk Grammar School advanced to the quarter-finals of the Leinster Senior Schools' Cup, Section A, with a hard-fought win over Gorey Community School at Mill Road, Dundalk, yesterday. Dundalk were missing a number of regular players, but took the lead in the first half when winger Colin Bogle went over to score at the corner. Joe Gilles kicked the conversion just wide.
The Co Wexford team got back on level terms when Gilles had one of his kicks charged down for a try, but again the conversion was missed.
In the second half, Dundalk came close to scoring on a number of occasions before they finally went ahead with a penalty kick landed by Gilles. Dundalk now play Merrion College, Dublin, at Belfield at 2.30 p.m. on Friday.
