BANGLADESH scored a dramatic last ball triumph over favourites Kenya to lift the ICC Trophy by two wickets in a rain affected final at Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Set a revised target of 166 in 25 overs, Bangladesh took 11 runs off the last over, including a six by Khaled Masud, to win off the last ball thanks to a leg bye.

Bangladesh manager Gazi Ashraf was ecstatic with the win: "It was a tremendous team effort. Everyone played his part. And God was kind to us," he said. By contrast, Kenyan manager Jasmer Singh was too disappointed to make a statement. "No comments," he said tersely.

Rain caused the final to be played over two days and Kenya had looked well placed after scoring 241 for seven in their 50 overs on Saturday, with man of the match Steve Tikolo making 147.

With further overnight rain delaying the start until mid afternoon, Bangladesh still faced a tough target from the revised total. And they lost their first wicket to the very first ball.
