Donegal 0-14 UUJ 0-10:DONEGAL GOT their defence of the Dr McKenna Cup off to a winning start at windswept MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey on Saturday night. The home side were on top from early on and led by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break.
Both sides were understrength but Donegal were never really troubled in the second half. “We’re happy enough with that but it wasn’t a great spectacle and there wasn’t great conditions for football, but it’s a win under the belt and we have the chance to build from here,” said manager, Jim McGuinness. Donegal will now play Fermanagh, also in Ballybofey, on Wednesday night in the second round before meeting Tyrone in Omagh on Sunday next.
