MUNSTER SCHOOLS' SENIOR CUP/Midleton College 6 Ardscoil Rís 13:AN INJURY-TIME try by centre Robbie Deegan, converted by out-half Robbie Burke, decided a well-contested preliminary-round tie at Towns Park yesterday.
The Limerick side struck following a blindside run by number eight Ciarán Power which ended with Burke cutting through the middle to score at the posts and earn his side a first-round tie against CBC Cork in a fortnight.
Ardscoil started well and a couple of fine kicks by Burke helped them into a 6-0 lead at the break, but Midleton College, whose forwards were magnificent throughout, fought back to level matters through two penalties from their captain Ned Hodson early in the second half.
The game appeared to be heading for extra-time until Deegan broke the deadlock, though Midleton forced their opponents to endure some anxious moments before the finish.
