Hockey Leinster Schools Senior Cup finalWesley College 1 St Andrew's 0 With talented defences dominant, it was only two minutes from the end that a slickly-worked short corner yielded a 1-0 victory for Wesley College over the holders, St Andrew's, at Grange Road yesterday.
David Fitzgerald had been particularly sharp between the St Andrew's posts but a set-piece switch from Chris Pelow set up Mitch Darling for the winner.
Overall, with Tim Hill to the fore, Wesley had been the more lively attackers, though there was a period early in the second half when St Andrew's threatened. A key moment came when Iain Walker blocked a thrust by Alan Sothern.
A solitary goal also decided the Minor Cup final in which Theo Kirwan made a decisive early breakthrough for St Andrew's against Sutton Park.
