Croke Park hits jackpot

The GAA will gross over £1 million next weekend from matches on Saturday and Sunday at headquarters

The GAA will gross over £1 million next weekend from matches on Saturday and Sunday at headquarters. Croke Park is expecting approximately 110,000 visitors over the two days and gate receipts in the region of £1.2 million.

An attendance of something close to 50,000 is expected for the Leinster football final between Meath and Offaly on Saturday and a further 60,000 for the All-Ireland hurling semi-final between Wexford and Tipperary on Sunday. The Croke Park authorities have reminded patrons that Saturday's starting times are different from those on the tickets. The tickets were pre-printed and the changes happened because of the fact that Meath and Kildare needed three matches to resolve their semi-final tie.

The starting times for Saturday's matches are 3.15 p.m. for the minor final, between Laois and Wicklow, and 5.0 p.m. for the senior match between Meath and Offaly.

On Sunday the starting times are 1.30 p.m. for the minor match between Galway and Tipperary and 3.30 p.m. for the senior match between Tipperary and Wexford.
