Colaiste Chriost Ri ended eight years without a Munster colleges' senior football title when they overwhelmed St Brendan's in this year's final played at Carraig a Droichead yesterday. The Cork students played some superb football, particularly in the first half, when aided by a strong wind and had St Breadan's in trouble in most sectors.

They served notice of their intentions as early as the first minute when - with an Aidan Fitzpatrick point and with Fionan Murray in sparkling form at full forward they led 1-8 to 0-3 at half time.

Despite having the wind in, the second hall, St Brendan's could make little impression on a Chriost Ri defence in which full back Ger O'Regan, and wingback Philip Sheehan, were outstanding. When Cahal McCarthy had his side's second goal in the 40th minute, the game was as good as over.

. Longford scored a runaway 5-13 to 0-5 win over Loath in the preliminary round of the special under-21 hurling championship at Michael Fay Park on Saturday, earning another home tie in the next round against Carlow on April 5th.
