Christy Toye, playing his 100th game for the county, set the tone for the winners and others such as newcomer Michael McGuire stepped up to the mark.
The sides shared 14 points in the opening half with Donegal never getting in front.
However, when Brian Roper finally put Donegal ahead with the first score of the second half, they never looked back.
In the end, it was the Donegal players’ ability to put Tyrone under pressure in passing and shooting that made the difference.
