Sacred Heart 2 Limerick FC 4:THERE WAS never any real danger of a shock at Tallaght Stadium as Leinster Senior League side Sacred Heart exited the cup.
Trailing 3-0 at the break, Sacred Heart got a goal back after 48 minutes when Anthony Weafer scored with a looping header from Darren Goode’s left wing cross.
A composed finish from midfielder Ian Lowry nine minutes later gave the Tallaght side hope.
But Limerick regained their focus to see out the match, adding a fourth goal through Paudie Quinn five minutes from time.
Ger Wrafter cleared off the Sacred Heart line from two-goal man-of-the-match Sean Brosnan. The ball fell for Quinn who curled a delightful shot home.
Brosnan opened the scoring after 22 minutes with a deflected strike and doubled his tally 18 minutes later with a fine header from Seán O’Connor’s corner.
O’Connor added a third to leave Limerick coasting by half-time.
