1987: Wins first Munster senior title with Tipperary, the county's 31st but the first since 1971.

1988: Has a dominant season at midfield as Tipperary win the National League and another Munster title. Lose All-Ireland to Galway. Bonnar selected on All Star team at midfield.

1989: Performs throughout the league and for Tipperary's Munster campaign but is dropped for All-Ireland semi-final against Galway. Reclaims midfield place as Tipperary win their first All-Ireland since 1971, beating Antrim by 4-24 to 3-9.

1991: Wins his second senior All-Ireland as Tipperary beat Kilkenny by a point in the final. Along with his brothers, he claims a Munster club medal with Cashel.

1993: Announces his retirement after an All-Ireland semi-final defeat against Galway. Returns to Tipperary team the following year.

1994: Wins a league medal with Tipperary, who crash out of the Munster championship against Clare.

1995: Plays with Waterford IT during their Fitzgibbon Cup-winning campaign.

1997: Contracts blood poisoning just days before the Munster final against Clare. Is released from hospital on the eve of the game and is passed fit to play. Endures early moments of terror at centre back against Fergie Touhy before recovering in the second half. Is one of Tipperary's key performers in the semi-final win over Wexford. That year's All-Ireland final against Clare proves his Croke Park swan-song.

1998: Plays his final game with Tipperary, a championship loss against Waterford.

2000: Assumes role of trainer to Waterford hurlers under Gerald McCarthy. Transfers from Dunhill to native club Cashel after a lengthy hiatus.
