Bohemians - 4 Waterford Utd - 2: Bohemians ended their poor run of results in style at Dalymount Park last night as they took all three points from this entertaining tussle with fellow strugglers Waterford United.

Both of these teams came into the game seeking their first win of the season, Waterford had drawn two of their three matches while the hosts had yet to pick up a point or even score a goal. And Bohemians' defensive frailties were exposed just two minutes in when Waterford's Andrew Polewczak was given acres of space to score from three yards out.

The concession of that goal injected a sense of urgency into the Bohemians attack, and they eventually ended their drought of 288 minutes without a goal when Tony Grant netted.

The equaliser arrived after Thomas Heary hoisted a free-kick towards Stephen Ward who chested the ball into the path of Grant, and he slotted the ball home on 18 minutes.

Bohemians were shading the play but they looked a little vulnerable at the back and on 38 minutes Waterford's Gavin Doyle rounded goalkeeper Stephen O'Brien only to shoot into the side-netting. That miss mattered little when Waterford regained the lead less than 60 seconds later after Stephen Grant split the Bohemians defence with a probing pass, Doyle swivelled and drove the ball home from 10 yards.

Bohemians levelled on half-time after a corner-kick from O'Keefe found Jason McGuinness, before his goal-bound shot was handled by Kristian Lamberski. Gareth Farrelly converted the resultant penalty.

Bohemians took the lead four minutes into the second half when Jimmy Fyffe produced another brave save to deny O'Keefe but Kevin Hunt reacted fastest to score from 15 yards.

Bohemians dominated the remainder of the game with defender Jason McGuinness spurning two of their better chances before Bohemians sealed their win in the final minute through Grant.
