LAURENT BENEZECH, French international prop, has signed for Harlequins as cover for club captain Jason Leonard. Benezech plays on the loose head side of the scrum, Leonard's position and will deputise when Leonard England's most capped prop needs a rest or when he switches to the other side of the scrum.
Harlequins rugby director Dick Best said: "There are a lot of games next season - possibly up to 40 and we need the cover.
"There is a specially demanding period in the autumn when we have tough European matches in between league commitments. We recognise the importance of strengthening the squad in all areas so that we can be fully competitive in every fixture. Benezech is a formidable player."
Benezech, 29, has played 15 tests, but did not represent France during last season's Five Nations. He is president of the French Association of Rugby Players.
