Madam, - The issue of homosexuality aside, it is rather ironic that Ronan Hodson's emphatic rejection of the suggestion that nature is capable of harbouring intentions (December 8th) would seem to place him firmly in the camp of the American evangelical Christians in their espousal of intelligent design and put him at odds with Darwin's advocacy of evolution through natural selection.
I don't know if Mr Hodson is studying biology at Trinity is but seems clear from his letter that the college is still producing the best scientific minds in Ireland of the 17th century. - Yours, etc,
