Water supply problems

Sir, – I was in your country last week, and read of the problems of contaminated water supplies.

As someone who used to work in the water industry, may I respectfully suggest that if Irish Water were to be made responsible for the whole water supply cycle, ie, from source to tap, without the use of local authorities acting as agents, this would at the very least improve both communications and, very importantly, accountability.

The elimination of the “who said what to whom and when” issue would concentrate a few minds. – Yours, etc,

ROGER JOHNSON,
