Madam, – Like many actors, I read with amazement Pat Moylan's defence of the non-payment of performers for her company's production of The Shawshank Redemption("Arts Council chief defends move to hire extras for free", April 25th).
That the head of the Arts Council, an organisation charged with the development and nurturing of artistic talent, condones the usage of actors (or even non-actors) for free in order to maximise producers’ profits, beggars belief. – Yours, etc,
