However, on previous visits to Dublin, I became very much aware that Dublin Bus was already infused with the aura of the literary locals.

For example, you were never Shaw when a bus was coming, you would re-Joyce when you saw one arriving, and you were Wilde when it passed without stopping. So there you were, Beckett the bus stop, waiting for God only knows and feeling like a Burke. When a bus finally stopped you knew the journey wouldn’t be Swift. What a way to treat a human Behan. – Yours, etc,
