Sir, - I was stunned to see how many rose to the bait of the article by Dr Dominique Tassot (July 18th), which purported to demolish the Theory of Evolution with a few swift thrusts. If I reluctantly accept that the original article was not a hoax, I assume it was published at this time of year to encourage a spate of letter-writing from the enlightened but enraged.
By writing against this kind of thing, the danger is that we can give an aura of credibility to what should be quietly ignored. - Yours, etc.,
